ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method is disclosed of constructing a heat- insulating and water-proof structure by employing a continuous roll of a water-proof membrane with sections thereof defined by uniformly spaced flaps coupled thereto. A first heat- insulating member is placed on a base surface and then over- laid with by a first section of the water-proof membrane so that the flap of the first section may be bent along an edge of the first insulating member with an edge of the flap to extend over the base surface. A second heat-insulating member is then laid on the base surface so as to position an edge portion thereof on top of said edge of the flap of the first section. A second section of the water-proof membrane is then placed over the second heat-insulating member. The roof structure is completed by repeating the above steps with the second and successive sections of the water-proof membrane. The method provides a simplified method of constructing an insulated and water-proof roof structure without the need to join successive individual sections which overlie the heat insulating layers.
