A B S T R A C T A composition having a high content of an inorganic material comprising (1) a granular or powdery phenol-aldehyde resin which is a condensation product of a phenol, an aldehyde and optionally a nitrogen-containing compound having at least two active hydrogens and is characterized by (A) containing spherical primary particles and their secondary agglomerated particles each having a particle diameter of 0.1 to 150 microns, (B) having such a size that at least 50% by weight thereof can pass through a 100 Tyler mesh sieve, and (C) having a free phenol content, determined by liquid chromatography, of not more than 500 ppm, and (2) a powder of an inorganic material, the amount of the phenol- aldehyde resin being less than 11% by weight based on the total weight of the phenol-aldehyde resin (1) and the powdery inorganic material (2). The composition is useful for the production of inorganic molded articles such as ceramics and has good flow characteristics, reactivity, moldability and carbonization.
