ABSTRACT Methods are described for assaying human and mammalian immune system function. Methods for determining the reserve capacity of a subject's immune system to provide amplifier and suppressor re- sponses are described, together with methods for titrating dosage amounts of agents modifying immune responses. In the preferred em- bodiments, IL-2 or G-IFN production are used to measure positive (i.e., amplifier) immune capacity or reserve, and cell prolifera- tion is used to measure negative (i.e., suppressor) immune capa- city or reserve.
