SUMMARY A printing machine (1) with at least one printing unit (4-7) is proposed, featuring a number of sensors for monitoring the printing procedure and a number of control elements for setting, for example, the ink profile, the fluid profile, the paper feed and other similar functions. The entire processing of the sensor signals, their interlinking and the output of control signals, as well as the output of display signals takes place in an overall electronic control (11) which is linked via data lines (21,22) with the printing machine, or the sensors and the control elements in the printing machine (1). Furthermore, assigned to the overall electronic control circuitry (11) are measuring devices such as a printing plate reader (12) or a quality monitor (13), whereby the measured signals are correspondingly processed also to facilitate setting of the printing machine. monitoring of the printing process and any interventions in the control of the printing machine which may be necessary are facilitated by a control desk (15) which is assigned to the overall electronic control circuitry (11) via a data line (26). The printing machine itself contains no additional electronic or electrical control devices but, apart from the sensors and control elements, only the displays and control facilities necessary for monitoring the printing procedure.
