ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Compounds of the general formula (I): Image (I) can be made by reduction of their corresponding 2-hydroxy- -phenylpropiophenones. In formula (I), R1 and R2 are optionally substituted hydrocarbon radicals possibly forming a ring with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached. R3 is an optionally substituted hydrocarbon or halogen. R4 may be the same as R3 or a substituted amino group and n is 1 or 2. Any of R1 to R4 may individually be hydrogen. An example is 1-[2-(2'-hydroxy-3'-piperidinopropoxy)-phenyl]- 3-phenylpropanol. The compounds and their physiologically tolerated addition salts with acids prosess antiarrhythmic, .beta.-sympatholytic and Ca-antagonistic properties and can therefore be used, in particular, for the pharmacotherapeutic treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, the prevention of sudden cardiac death and the treatment of coronary diseases of the heart.
