CONTROLLING DEVICE FOR ELECTRIC APPARATUS Abstract The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for determining whether the power supply or the magnetron has failed in a power supply circuit for powering a magnetron. The circuit comprises a magnetron and a dual half wave doubler circuit having dual first and second circuit portions which include first and second transformers, respectively. A sensing unit is provided for sensing the magnitude of a first current flowing in the primary of the first transformer. Another sensing unit is provided for sensing the magnitude of a second current flowing in the primary of the second transformer. A comparator is provided for comparing the magnitude of the first and second currents to determine if the first current is more than a certain amount greater than the second current or is the second current is more than a certain amount greater than the first current, whereby it is determined whether the power supply has failed.
