ABSTRACT A METHOD OF INHIBITING CORROSION IN AQUEOUS SYSTEMS A method for inhibiting corrosion in an aqueous system, for example a cooling system, is disclosed which comprises adding to the system a phosphonate of the formula: Image where R1 represents hydrogen or an alkyl radical of 1 to 6 carbon atoms and R2 represents hydrogen, hydroxyl or amino, or a salt thereof and a cationic polymer.
