ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSE A fume removal device for attachment to a welding gun to remove fumes from the vicinity of the welding location comprises a conduit adapted to be secured to a source of vacuum at its downstream end. The conduit is apertured in its side wall to allow entrance therein of the operating tip of a welding gun, which can be releasably clamped therein so that the welding tip is effectively surrounded by the upstream end of the conduit. The intermediate section of the conduit is arcuately curved towards the handle of the welding gun, to make the combined unit compact. The device is largely made of heat resistant plastic, e.g. phenolic resin so that the combined device is light in weight. A steel shield is provided at the upstream end of the device, further to protect the welding gun tip against impact damage. - 1 -
