The invention relates to a metod of lysing blood clots. The method involves concomitant administration of effective amounts of lys-plasminogen and of pro-urokinase. The invention also relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising a lys-plg and pro-UK. Blood clots are lysed more rapidly by pro-UK in vitro when lys-plg is present. Both human and animal patients requiring treatment for blood clots can be treated by the invention.
