ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention disclosed herein provides a process for preparing an anti-dandruff hair care composition which comprises (a) heating water in a mix tank to a temperature of from about 71°C to about 88°C; (b) mixing with this heated water about 2%-30% by weight of the composition of an anionic surfactant; (c) mixing with the water/ anionic surfactant mixture about 1%-7% by weight of the composition of a nonpolymeric and non-clay suspending agent; (d) cooling the mixture so formed to a temperature of from about 21°C to about 49°C so as to achieve substantial crystallization of the suspending agent; and then (e) adding a water insoluble, particulate anti- dandruff agent such as zinc pyridinethione to the mixture. The composition so prepared is substantially free of polymeric and clay type suspending agents.
