ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a process for the recovery of tin from starting materials or concentrates of oxide or oxide sulphide, low in tin content. The process comprises the decomposition of the starting material by melting with potassium hydroxide under inert gas or in air, and then leaching with water. Following such leaching metallic tin is then recovered electrolytically.
