DRILL AND DISPOSABLE INSERTS THEREFORE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a drilling tool having a shank and at least one pair of identical cutting inserts, the inserts having an octagonal shape so that a pair of cutting surfaces simultaneously equiangularly engage a workpiece having alternate equal obtuse angles. Each of the inserts is arranged such that they each have a different radial displacement from the turning axis of the drill, the inner insert having a cutting path which overlaps the turning axis of the drill and the outer insert having a cutting path which overlaps the cutting path of the inner insert and extends radially outwardly beyond the drill body.
