ABSTRACT The device for measuring the level of liquid metal in a crystallizer of a continuous casting ingot mould, comprises an emitter coil and at least one receiver coil. The emitter coil is supplied with at least one high frequency signal. The emitter coil and receiver coil are located within the body of the ingot mould in cooperation with a cooling fluid conveyor. They are also coupled electromagnetically to one single wall of the crystallizer and to the volume within the crystallizer. The device may comprise a plurality of receiver coils monitoring individual signals which are used to determine the neighbourhood of the position of the meniscus contained in the crystallizer.
