ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Described herein is a process for the prepar- ation of a novel essentially nonaqueous glutaraldehyde precursor which is capable of rapidly generating glu- taraldehyde upon addition to water. The precursor is prepared by the hydration of 2-alkoxy-3,4-dihydro- pyran in the presence of an acid catalyst.
