ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION "A PAPER TRANSPORT DEVICE FOR PRINTING APPARATUS USING A CONTINUOUS PAPER WEB" A paper transport device for use in printers which utilise continuous paper webs comprises a motor- driven platen (4) and a single paper pressure roller (13) which contacts the platen (4) approximately at the centre thereof so that it can be swung away in a sprung manner. The paper pressure roller (13) is motor-driven in such a way that its peripheral speed is greater than the peripheral speed of the platen (4), and by virtue of the arrangement of the paper pressure roller (13), the maximum possible angle of loop (.beta.) of the paper (10) with the platen (4) is achieved which is delimited by the paper pressure roller (13), and by a paper guidance channel (5) which is so aligned so as to guide the paper tangentially towards the platen. The paper guidance channel (5) is preceded by a pre-biassing means (3) which pre- biasses paper (10) towards the platen (4).
