ABSTRACT Process of manufacture of Nadolol employing osmium tetroxide for the manufacture of cis-6,7-Dihydroxy-5,6,7,8- tetrahydro-1-naphthol which is subjected to epichlorohydrin in the presence of a mild base catalyst, the product of which is reacted with t-butylaminie to produce Nadolol which may be recovered from isopropyl alcohol resulting unexpectedly in a very pure product.
