A B S T R A C T N-Imidazolyl Derivatives of Bicyclic Compounds useful in medicine. The invention relates to the use of a compound of formula (I) Image (I) wherein (a) Image is Image wherein Y completes a single bond or is oxygen or a -CH2- group and the symbol Image represents a single or a double bond or (b) Image is Image and the symbol Image represents a double bond; one of R1, R2, R3 and R4 is -CH2OH, C2-C4 acyl, Image , -COOR7, -CH2-COOR7, Image , -CH-?-COOR? or Image in which each of R7, R? and R9 is independently hydrogen or C1-C4 alkyl and the others are independently chosen from hydrogen, hydroxy, halogen, C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy and -COOR7 wherein R7 is as defined above, and one of R5 and R6 is hydeogen and the other is hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl or phenyl; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, in the preparation of a medicament for use in the treatment of nephropathies.
