Abstract: Process for the preparation of very pure partially fluorinated ethanes The reaction of fluorine-containing ethylenes of the formula CF2=CXY, in which X denotes H or F and Y denotes H, F, C1, Br or iodine, with hydrogen fluoride to form fluorine-containing ethanes of the formula CF3-CHXY is carried out, according to the invention, at temperatures of 20 - 200°C and in the presence of a chromium oxyfluoride catalyst which has been treated with hydrogen fluoride. Only a small amount of by- products is formed in this process.
