La présente invention concerne un nouveau procédé de préparation de copolymères thermostables comprenant dans leur structure des unités de récurrence formées de groupements imide-amide et diorganopolysiloxane. Plus précisément, ces copolymères sont obtenus par réaction directe en milieu solvant : - d'un diisocyanate de formule : OCN Image NCO (I) avec A = lien valentiel ou un radical divalent ; - d'un monanhydride d'acide tricarboxylique de formule : HOOC - Image (II) avec B = radical trivalent aromatique ; - et d'un diisocyanate siloxane de formule : Image (III) avec D = radical divalent hydrocarboné de nature alkylaromatique pouvant renfermer un ou plusieurs hétéroatomes, R1 à R8 = radical hydrocarboné, et x + y = nombre allant de 0 à 100.
