-21- Abstract of the Disclosure Process for the separation of mixtures comprising HF, 2,2-dichloro-1,1,1-trifluoroethane (FC-123) and/or 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (FC-124) by subjecting the mixture to a temperature from about -80°C to about 40°C and a pressure from about 0.10 MPa to about 3.55 MPa in a separation zone, whereby an organic phase comprising less than 15 mole percent of HF is formed as the bottom layer in the separation zone and an acid phase comprising at least 94 mole percent of HF is formed at the top in the separation zone.
