ABSTRACT The invention relates to a device for preventing a portable object from being removed from a support. The device of the invention comprises a pair of members having respective adhesive securing surfaces for adhesion respecti- vely to the object and the support, the members adapted to be coupled together and positioned between the object and the support with one member adhesively secured to the object and the other member adhesively secured to the support, and tamper-proof fastening means for coupling together the members to thereby securely connect the object to the support while supporting the object in spaced-apart relationship with the support. Such a device is particularly useful for preventing unauthorized removal of portable equipment, such as micro- computers, video cassette recorders and the like, from their intended or customary position on a support.
