ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An extended storage system includes a data transfer path provided between a work storage, which is located between a main storage and a buffer storage, and an extended storage. The work storage controlled in store-in mode is provided with a valid flag which indicates the validity of a copy of data, in part pertinent to the data transfer destination, in accord- ance with the transfer command which specifies invalidation or retardation of the copy from the main storage.
