ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An electronic and mechanical automatic system for manufacture of "personalized" tape cartridges for audio and video, namely tape cartridges on which recordings are made of pieces chosen by the user, the system has a central memory store in which, by means of magnetic memory disks, a set of musical pieces are recorded for audio and video tape cartridges, a computer with punched card reader and equipment for recording the tapes. The manufacturer supplies the user with a catalogue giving lists of the pieces avalable, the names of the performers, the time required for performing the piece and any other details needed to identify the characteristics of the pieces, each one classified with an adequate code number. In accordance with the code numbers sent him by the user, the marufacturer prepares a punched card which, when put into the computer, sends the signals needed for automatic transfer of the user's chosen pieces from the memory store to the recording units which, in fulfillment of the purpose of the invention, record audio and video tape cartridges according to the "personal" choices of the user, thus making them "personalized".
