ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A presser foot is provided herein which is used in combination with a zigzag sewing machine in order to produce a combination stitch. The presser foot includes a needle dropping hole formed therein which is adapted to allow lateral swinging movement of a vertically-reciprocating needle between two needle dropping points defining a maximum swinging amplitude of the needle. The presser foot also is provided with a recess in the bottom surface which extends along one entire side longitudinally thereof. The recess is defined by a face positioned higher than the remainder of the bottom surface of the presser foot with a predetermined vertical distance therebetween and by a side wall connecting the inner end of the higher face and the remainder of the bottom surface and extending laterally of one of the extreme points of the laterally swinging needle with the needle hole.
