PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF N-MONOSUBSTITUTED O-ALKYLURETHANES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE N-monosubstituted O-alkylurethanes are prepared by reacting a primary amine with an N,N'-diarylurea, preferably diphenylurea and a primary or secondary alcohol at a temperature from 150 to 300°C. The reactant alcohol has a boiling point which is at least 5°C higher at atmospheric pressure than the aromatic amine from which the urea is derived. The aromatic monoamine on which the urea is based which forms during the reaction is removed by distillation during the course of the reaction.
