Abstract Therapeutic methods for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Type I diabetes, and other autoimmune disorders are de- scribed wherein amplifiers of the immune system response are administered to the subject. Instead of further increasing (amplifying) the hyperactive immune response, however, adminis- tering the amplifiers has the effect of reducing the excessive immune responsiveness. Compositions for such administration are also described.
