Abstract STABLE SALTS OF SAM WITH POLYANIONS Stable salts of S-adenosyl-L-methionine with water- soluble polyanions, such as polyphosphates, polyvinyl- sulfonates-sulfates or -phosphates, polyacrylates, poly- styrene sulfonates, are described. The salts according to the invention, prepared by precipitation from aqueous solutions of pH not exceeding 3.5, possess peculiar stability, solubility, nonhygroscopicity and are valuable for use as active constituents in pharmaceutical composi- tions. Some of the pharmacologic effects of the salts of the present invention include anit-inflammatory effects, analgesic effects, hepatoprotective effects, bile fluidiz- ing effects, sleep inducing effects and antidepres- sant effects. They have also been used in the treatment of Parkinson's Disease.
