A papermaking machine having a press section in- cluding a pair of cooperating press rolls. A papermaker's felt is mounted for endless travel and carries a wet paper web through the hip between the press rolls. After passing through the press rolls, the felt carries the paper web across a substantial span of distance to the dryer section, thereby preventing sagging and possible breakage of the web as the web travels across this span.
