ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Configurations of function modules (FM), for processing individual procedures in a data processing system (DV), are entered into a configuration memory (KS). When a configuration is modified, then a control unit (SE) makes the appropriate correction in the configuration memory (KS). This write instruction initiates the emission of the modification information to the remaining function modules (FM) of this configuration, where the modification information is deposited in the communication memory (BS). The function modules (FM) are therefore in position to react appropriately to the new configuration. The handling of the configuration modification can also take place during operation of the data processing system (DV), so that a re-start is not required.
