ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Water-soluble paint remover compositions for the removal of uncured paint are disclosed which avoid the use of toxic organic solvent, in particular, methylene chloride. The inventive compositions comprise an organic carboxylic acid, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, and an alkylene glycol ether. Methods for use of the compositions are also disclosed.
