Abstract of the Disclosure A catalyst component useful for (co)polymerizing ethylene under high temperatures and pressures comprising the reaction product obtained by treating a magnesium halide supported titanium halide precursor with Lewis acid, thoroughly washing the solid reaction product therefrom and prepolymerizing the washed solid product with an alpha-olefin having from 4 - 12 carbon atoms.
