ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Nitrogen and oxygen are separated from air by contacting the air with a bed of MFI type zeolite in an adsorption stage to selectively adsorb the nitrogen and produce an effluent enriched in oxygen and thereafter recover a gas enriched in nitrogen in a desorption stage. The process is preferably a pressure swing process, desorption being effected by pressure reduction. Preferably the MFI zeolite is employed in the sodium or lithium form.
