- 1 - Abstract: The present invention is directed to compounds of the formula: Image wherein X is a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom or a chlorine atom, R2 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, R3 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and R4 is a C1-C4 alkyl group. These compounds are useful as intermediates in the preparation of quinoxalines. The quinoxalines are useful in the preparation of tetrahydrophthalimide herbicides.
