ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE There is disclosed a locking device for a draw pin in a trailer hitch of the type comprising spaced upper and lower plates, each being perforated to receive a draw pin with a drawbar of a tractor or trailer held by the draw pin in engagement with the hitch. A first ele- ment in the form of an upwardly open channel has a handle pivoted to the legs of the channel and a perforation through the web of the channel to receive the draw pin, whereby the first element may be placed on the upper plate with its perforation in register with the per- forations of the upper and lower plates and the draw pin inserted through all of the perforations to secure a trailer to the tractor. A latch member includes depending means such as a collar to receive the upper plate, and is slidable on the upper plate between a locking position in which it overlies the draw pin bet- ween the legs of the channel and prevents removal of the draw pin, and a release position in which it clears the draw pin. The handle of the first element is swingable from an upright position, in which it can be used to remove the draw pin, to a locking position in which it engages a part of the latch when the latter is in the locking position to prevent movement of the latch from the locking position. -11-
