ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a pumping system suitable for use with a well in which a pump having a rotatable pumping element and a fixed pumping element is mounted in the well for pumping fluid therefrom, the improvement wherein the rotatable pumping element is adapted to be driven from the surface and the fixed pumping element is secured in the well against rotation, the rotatable pumping element being adapted to be driven by a tubular string through which fluid discharged by said pump is forced to the surface.
