ABSTRACT A reed switch assembly is of the normally closed type to be assembled in an electric circuit. The reed switch assembly comprises a reed switch having two sealed reeds with respective contacts and a magnet, the reed switch and the magnet being encased in a molded body of rigid synthetic resin. The molded body has an asymmetrically shaped outer configuration. The reed switch encased in the molded body is protected against vibration, shocks, or the like for reliable opening and closing operation for a long period of time. With the outer profile of the molded body and the polarity of the magnet corresponding to each other, the direction in which the reed switch assembly is to be installed can reliably be recognized when incorporating the reed switch assembly in the electric circuit.
