26625-96 ABSTRACT A device for seismic exploration in the form of a towed streamer. The streamer is easily managed, is very flex- ible and has a low weight so that it may be towed with moderate tractive forces. It consists of a cable with an inner core (11), one or more layers(12)of insulated conductor pairs and an outer low-friction protective coating(13), and is characterised by the employment in both the core as well as in the outer low-friction protective layer of an acoustically almost inert mate- rial of low specific gravity. The seismic signals are obtained by means of series connected gimbal-mounted geophones.
