ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the manufacture of 2-thiocyanomethylthiobenzo- thiazole. 2-Chloromethylthiobenzothiazole is reacted, in the presence of at least one glycol ether as a solvent for the reaction, with either an alkali metal or an ammonium thiocyanate at a temperature and for a time sufficient to produce the 2-thio- cyanomethylthiobenzothiazole.
