PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif d'électrolyse pour l'obtention d'un métal par électrolyse d'halogénures en bain de sels fondus. Le procédé consiste à utiliser une cathode en forme de panier, à faire passer simultanément un courant I1 entre cette cathode et l'anode de manière à effectuer un premier dépôt de métal brut dans le panier et un courant I2 entre ledit panier et des cathodes complémentaires pour déposer sur celle-ci le métal final. Le dispositif comprend un ensemble anodique central, un panier cathodique tubulaire entourant l'anode et une cathode complémentaire entre le panier et la paroi intérieure de la cuve contenant le bain, disposition qui peut être inversée par rapport au panier. L'invention trouve son application dans la fabrication en continu d'un métal réfractaire de bonne qualité avec un rendement matière et électrique convenable.
