ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A recording and/or reproducing apparatus performs recording and/or reproduction with a tape cassette having a cassette case and a supply side reel and a take-up side reel provided within the cassette case for winding a tape. The recording and/or reproducing apparatus comprises a reel driving shaft relatively entering from the bottom of the cassette case to engage with a center part of one reel of the supply side and take-up side reels when the tape cassette is loaded into a predetermined position of the recording and/or reproducing apparatus, to rotate the one reel, and a rotation transmitting mechanism for engaging with a part of the other reel, at a part other than a center part thereof, to rotate the other reel.
