ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Potassium salts of nitrated phenols, especially picric acid, are produced in modified crystal forms, having low mechani- cal sensitivity, but suitable for use in electrically fired initi- atory devices such as fuse-heads and bridge-wire igniters, by precipitation in the presence of hydrophilic colloids such as dextrin or cellulose ethers. The products are free-flowing, non-acicular crystals, normally having a mean particle size less than 100 µm.
