- 1 - Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for storing articles which are to be processed in some manner as, for example, packaged. A linear conveyor provides a stream of articles. A pusher pushes these articles off the conveyor in a transverse direction into the path of a stepped pusher which moves cyclically parallel to the conveyor. The stepped pusher moves arrays of articles in a direction parallel to the conveyor onto a storage table. The stepped pusher only moves, in each cycle, the length of one article. Each step on the stepped pusher has a longitudinal side approximately equal to the length of an article and a transverse side approximately equal to the width of an article.
