ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The present invention relates to an electronic apparatus designed for disposition on a shoe, and which comprises a single chip microcomputer. Upon walking, jogging or running of the wearer of the shoe, a sensor generates a square wave signal supplied to the micro- computer. The microcomputer comprises peripheral circuits allowing the same to drive a multisegment digital display. The software of the microcomputer is adapted for counting the number of paces of the wearer from the square wave signal supplied from the sensor, for measuring the appro- ximate walked or run distance, and for counting the time the wearer has walked or run. The microcomputer may also provide the walking or running speed. All the information from the microcomputer can be displayed through the digital display. In an embodiment of the apparatus, music beat and/or beat sound are produced.
