-11- "PIVOTED EXTENSION ASSEMBLY FOR DOWNSPOUTS" ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A downspout extension trough is pivoted by one end thereof to an inverted U-shaped boot which in turn is secured to the out-turned lower end of a downspout. When in the "down" or extended position, water is directed away from the lower end of downspout. When not required, the trough can be pivoted upwardly to rest against the down- spout under which circumstances the exit from the downspout is relatively unimpeded so that in the event that rain occurs while the trough is in the uppermost position, water can still be discharged from the downspout. The boot strengthens the lower end of the downspout to support the trough and also maintains the open end of the down- spout when the trough is in the uppermost position.
