ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Quaternary pyrazole derivatives are disclosed having the formula Image wherein R is an alkyl having from 10 to 18 carbons with at least 10 carbons in its longest chain; R1 is a member selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl, C3-C5 alkenyl, benzyl, nitrobenzyl, halobenzyl and dihalobenzyl; R2 is a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methyl; and R3 is a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and methyl X is an anion. These quarternary compounds are effective antimicrobial agents and are particularly useful in combatting bacteria, yeasts and fungi.
