- 1 - Abstract: The invention provides a method for producing an elastomeric optical fiber of low light attenuation compris- ing a core made of an elastomer having rubber-like elas- ticity and a cladding surrounding the core. The optical fiber is produced by a method comprising causing a stream of a liquid polymer for the core to descend from a nozzle while the polymer is cross-linked, and simultaneously with or after the formation of the core, providing a cladding around the core.
