Abstract A connecting apparatus for a radiator (1) of a single or double tube hot water central heating installation comprises a supply connector (4) and a return connector (5) for respectively connecting to the supply and return conduits of the central heating installation, a bypass passage (6) connecting supply and return connectors, a bypass valve (8) for the bypass passage (6), a supply passage (3) having a thermostatic valve (2) and disposed between the supply connector (4) and an inlet aperture (1a) of the radiator (1), and a return passage (7) between an outlet aperture (1b) of the radiator (1) and the return connector (5). To pre-assemle the connecting apparatus and enable the same simple thermostatic valve (2) to be used for different radiator sizes, the return passage (7) has a setting valve (14) which is actuatable independently of the bypass valve (8) and permits presetting of the flow through the radiator to a maximum value corresponding to its size.
