- 1 - Abstract of the disclosure: Halogenated aliphatic carboxylic acid fluorides are prepared by reacting halogenated aliphatic carboxylic acids with trihalogenomethyl aromatic com- pounds containing, as a predominant total or exclusively, fluorine atoms in the trihalogenomethyl groups, in par- ticular with benzotrifluoride, in the presence of Lewis acids as catalysts. The reaction products are inter- mediate products having a multiplicity of uses.
