ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Terpolymers of an alkyl acrylate containing about 6-16 carbon atoms, a second alkyl acrylate containing about 1-6 carbon atoms, and 2 third monomer which may be vinyl acetate, ethyl vinyl ether or the like are useful in very small amounts in lubricating oils, especially gear lubri- cants, to inhibit foam. The preferred terpolymers are terpolymers of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate and vinyl acetate.
