Abstract of the Disclosure Dibenzopyrone derivatives which possess depressant and/or antihypoxia activity are 1,3-bis(dibenzo[b,d] pyranyloxy propanes having the formula(1): Image where R and R1 independently represent hydrogen or methyl; where A is -CH2?CH2 and where X represents single substitution with oxygen or substitution with hydrogen and a second group taken to be hydrogen, hydroxyl, amino, C1-C4 alkylamino or an acyloxy radical (-O?-B) where B represents C1-C15 alkyl, -CH2CH2- COOH, or (dimethylamino)phenyl. Also included are pharmaceutically acceptable salt forms of the compounds. These compounds are useful as sedatives and/or for the protection of warm blooded animals from the effects of oxygen deprivation.
